How to Scan Documents for LoanBeam / Document Delivery Requirements

LoanBeam's technology combines advanced machine learning with layered optical character recognition (OCR) technologies to automatically extract and interpret the variety of income data contained in the documents uploaded to our system, with no human involvement.

Original source documents must be scanned and uploaded in order to submit an application in Loanbeam. Adhering to the following standards will avoid delays in processing your application and ensure quick and accurate results.

Image Format Specifications Summary

  • Save the file in PDF format
  • Scan resolution setting of 300 dpi
  • Scan must be in Black & White (color scans are not accepted).
      • If available on your scanner - Source document files should be deskewed
      • You cannot use the despeckle function when scanning
      • If you have a program like Kofax VRS Professional installed with your scanner it is recommended you use this when scanning for LoanBeam.
  • Individual tax returns, K-1’s and Business Tax Returns can be submitted to LoanBeam in one combined PDF file or split into separate PDF files in any order.
      • However, we require that the pages of each tax return be submitted in sequential order (like the taxpayer would have received from their accountant).
      • Each document should be on a single page.  Do NOT scan multiple documents to a single page.  (Ex: if you have have 2 documents that are only a few lines each it is NOT acceptable to scan those 2 documents at the same time to make 1 page)
  • Non-image file formats (Microsoft Word, Excel) will NOT be accepted
  • Photocopies are NON-SUPPORTED documents, as the software is unable to read or extract any data from a photocopy (i.e. pictures of documents converted to PDF)
  • LoanBeam does NOT recognize handwritten documents.
  • LoanBeam is not able to read password-protected files.
  • There is no restriction on the size of the files uploaded to LoanBeam.
  • Avoid multiple printings /scannings of documents as much as possible (as this degrades the document image).
  • Documents with a portrait view must be scanned as is (right side up)
  • Similarly documents with a Landscape view must be scanned either right side up or with their left edge turned upwards.
